Megazord Update

This was the original cod piece but it ended up being too wide

and the rounded piece on the bottom of the chest

too low

this is the revised cod piece, I made it not as wide. Also, I removed

the rounded piece from the chest, I will have to make

another one and put it higher up on the chest.

Helm is done. here it is with the eyes. I just went to the Thrift store and bought an old yellow jersey and used it for the eyes

This is the inside of the chest piece, i re enforced it with more cardboard and duct tape

Helm Done

Except the eyes the Helm is finished....

I added the trim to the helm to make it look a little cleaner than the hand painted lines before. I also fixed the mowhawk thing on top and added the red to the tip because before it was yellow and that was inaccurate.

About The Zord

I wanted to point out, because I don't think I have on this blog, that the costume that I am making is based off of the Retrofire Mighty Morphin Megazord toy rather than the actual Megazord from the show. The diffrence is that the toy is more stylized and anime looking.

This is the toy, witch is more anime looking and honestly, less detailed.

Helmet Almost Complete

I say "almost" because there is still some fine tuning and clean up I need to do on it.

I will probably cover some of my mistakes up with masking tape and them paint it.

This is the center mowhawk piece. I had trouble cutting it to the roundness of the top of the helm. I had to move a pencil along the top of the helm as I held a piece of paper behind it to get the curvature, and it still wasn't exact.

Here's the back. The mowhawk piece was supposed to go all the way down to the red part but it wasn't long enough. I added a piece of cardboard there to make it look like it does go all the way down but it leaves a crappy looking gap if you look at it from the side. I hope to fix that.

Here is the helm in its almost complete state.

On my head it looks like it's going to be proportional.

Helmet to hell!

So I spent the day working on the "Ear" pieces for the helm and they ended up being too big. Back to the drawing board.

This is the helm with a little color on it. The black is spray painted but the red was hand

painted.

These are the "Ear" pieces that I made too big. I couldn't really tell they were too big

until I put on the helmet after attaching them.

Here is the helm on my head. Way to big. I guess shit happens. I'll start on the new, smaller ones, tomorrow.

So It Begins....

My work on the helmet so far

I started with a hard hat and added cardboard to it

working on the eyes

I'm going to put yellow jersey fabric in the eye holes

so i can see through them. I used sun glasses on my Optimus Prime

costume but they fogged up the entire time I was wearing the

suit and I could barley see.

Comparison to the toy. I am basing this suit more off of the RetroFire Mighty

Morphin Megazord toy more than the one from the show. The

toy is a little more stylized.

This is one of the "Ear" pieces I have finished. I still have to do the other one.
